Free Humans are an endangered species
“Don’t all people yearn for freedom?” we have asked. And we assume the answer is yes. But the answer is no. Some people, perhaps most people, prefer other goods. Indeed, some people would rather be holy than free, or safe than free, or be instructed in how they should lead their lives rather than be free. Many prefer the comfort of strong answers already given rather than the openness and hazards of freedom. There are those who would never dream of substituting their will for the imam’s or pushing their desires over the customs and traditions of their families. Some men kiss their chains.
During my red pill period over the last two years, I have been astonished at where we are now as a society, in this country that, in theory, should cherish principals of Classical Liberalism in its core value system.. The Enlightenment values of individual freedom, personal responsibility, fairness and respect for basic constitutional rights such as freedom of speech and freedom of movement are under siege.
They are now considered ‘right wing’.
My friends of 50 years ago with whom I marched against Government tyranny are now begging for Government control over everyone’s lives. The ‘free love’ boomers of yesteryear have become the selfish, decrepit, fearful, and mean spirited old people clinging to every vestige of power and control. They embody the antithesis of Love.
And all of this at the expense of their own children and grandchildren. They have no care for the price that their progeny will pay for their own self obsessed goal of a life without risk, a life without vulnerability, and ultimately a life without death.
In running for election at this time, I was driven by a desire to awaken people in this somnambulant country of Canada. The ‘nice people’ of Canada are smiling while being herded like sheep into a nanny state that Orwell warned about almost 100 years ago.
I acknowledge that I am on a fool’s errand. I rationalize my role as a Canadian Sisyphus with the notion that consciousness is more important than power. I live in the least awake, but most woke part of this country founded by mounted Police and the losers of the American Revolution.
What should I expect?
I find some comfort in the fact that there are many people - not enough - but many people who see clearly. I have met them, I have spoken with them. They are people of all ages, all backgrounds, all ethnicities, and all socio-economic strata.
They are people who cherish and defend freedom, with the knowledge that sometimes that freedom will result in risk.
This is the tradeoff that has been made by our species for thousands of years in order to survive and evolve.
The freedom loving humans are now seen as an impediment to the fearful ideology of the humans who see any risk as unacceptable. Only time will tell how this plays out as the battle continues.
Let’s hope that the endangered species of Humans - those who cherish Freedom as the core of existence - will live to tell the tale .
Like the Dark Ages several hundred years ago - my hope is that Freedom will survive because of these remarkable people.
